She had previously worked as a model over 3 years, and was then cast in the role of the child who was possessed Regan. Linda was awarded the Golden Globe and was on course to win an Academy Award. However, when it became public the fact that Mercedes McCambridge had dubbed the evil voice and the eight seconds were performed by a stunt duo and the dream of a career on the A-list did not materialize. Linda was able to secure leading roles in a number of films, such as Born Innocent (#1 TV film of 1974) and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic(1975) as well as her role in the Exorcist II sequel Exorcist II : The Heretic. When she was pushed by her peers into buying cocaine at the age of 18 it triggered being detained and then sentenced to three years probation. Linda was removed from Hollywood in the wake of the well-publicized drug bust. The career of Linda was reduced to B movies and guest TV appearances.
